Why Was The UK On Pole Position For The Battle Of Britain?

The battle of Britain was a planned and vicious attack on Britain by German air forces. Hitler's main target was Russia, and he thought he would be able to pool all his resources to it assuming that Britain and France would both surrender after the German's strong showing in northern France. This was not the case however and Churchill, soon after being elected Prime minister in 1940, ordered continuing attacks on Germany.

Britain was not Hitler’s focus, more of an annoyance than anything and he planned to eliminate Britain from the equation with a full scale bombing attack. His primary targets were airfields, attacking these would render the RAF redundant making a fight back impossible. Things did not go so smoothly however, Churchill ordered the RAF into the skies to stop the Lufftwaffee in their tracks.

The battle continued throughout the summer of 1940, and since Hitlers onslaught of RAF bases had not gone to plan, he diverted his attention to British cities, with the aim of taking out key industries. Hitler never planned to go through with the Blitz, he thought the mere announcement that British cities would be attacked would scare the UK into surrendering.

The Blitz destroyed major parts on London and other big cities, killing civilians along the way, but the continued valiant air attacks on the Lufftwaffe eventually caused them to retreat. Who should take the praise for this? That’s right, the Poles. Polish Pilots had a much higher kill rate than any other nationality during the battle of Britain

Next time you go to the bank and get out a loan, or pozyczka as the Poles say, remember how lucky you are to have freedom, and when you use a loan calculator, or kalkulator kredytowy as they say in Poland, remember that you are doing so only because you live in a democratic, capitalist society that may have been very different had the Battle of Britain been won by Hitler.

Survive Military Basic Training With These 8 Tips

Getting through military basic training takes a lot perseverance. Getting through basic training is easy if you follow a few simple rules. To wit, get as much rest as possible before the training process starts; keep your mouth shut; follow all rules; eat everything that’s put in front of you; be nice to your training colleagues; and never give up!

A military school experience is a lot harder than you may have heard or thought. There will always be a few surprises; you can’t cover everything, but you can at least know what to expect. Here are some tips that will help you get through military basic training:

Ensure maximum rest before training

Take enough rest before the training starts. Make sure you relax and do things you enjoy.

Eat healthy foods and be sure to get enough rest

This will ensure your preparation for the tough military training you are about to endure.

Don’t ever open your mouth

Everyone who has ever gone through basic military training seems to say the same thing. Don’t speak unless and until you are questioned or instructed to give an answer. The reasons why you may be ridiculed and resented till the end of your training are your search for sympathy and your complaining nature. This is just an aspect of training that you need to become accustomed to.

Obey orders to the letter

The military trains people to be consistently disciplined and obedient. Be sure to perform the task exactly as requested. Pay close attention to instructions and don’t take shortcuts or there will be adverse consequences. It is important to remain calm and focused, do not let yourself be frustrated once orders start being issued very quickly one right after the other. Always stay alert and react quickly. Make sure to keep up or you won’t survive training. On the other hand, never volunteer for additional chores. You should only follow orders as expected.

Become accustomed to playing by the rules

It is very important to obey the rules in the military school because disobedience by one member of a company will result in punishment for the whole company. Make sure you following the correct daily routine, such as making your bed and folding your clothes the standard way, and do your chores to avoid retribution.

Eat all food prepared for you

Everything you need in military training is given to you, and it is all up to you to make use of the resources they give you, including food. During your training you will always be fatigued and stressed, so stay physically fit at all times. When you visit the mess hall, be sure to eat as much as you can in order to fulfill your body’s needs. Initially, you will need to get accustomed to sever nausea and possibly vomiting.

Remember not to take anything as a personal insult or attack

It’s best not to take anything that goes on in boot camp too seriously, for it’s all part of the training process. The drill instructor in a military school deals with you in such a way as to foster all the essential qualities of an ideal soldier in you.

Don’t quit

No matter how physically and psychologically exhausted you are, never give up. A military soldier is persistent in meeting goals. When starting a project, ensure that you complete it and this will prove to others that you can and will do it. If you think you are not willing to make as many sacrifice as you will be asked to make, then basic training is not for you.

Your fellow trainees need to be treated well

You’ll be experiencing the arduous demands of boot camp along with others who will not welcome any opposing attitudes on your part. Rather, act pleasantly toward them and attempt to fit in. Military training has many facets. In addition to learning to perform as a team, recruits are taught discipline, to obey orders, to value loyalty and to improve their physical strength,

Read on to learn more about how to get through basic training in the military.

Learn to do all things quickly, such as eating a meal in two to three minutes, showering in less than two minutes, making your bed in no time, and other chores.

Consume plenty of water

Proper hydration is critical in getting you through the arduous physical training.

You should only bring the necessities

Military school cadets must follow strict rules, which prohibit bringing food or other unnecessary items. Books must be limited to the Bible or similar religious text.

Take along comfortable footwear because you’ll be on your feet quite a bit

Alternate between a couple different pairs of boots. As you try drying out a pair, put the other one to use. You should have a spare in case one gets destroyed while training.

Study diligently

As they say, no matter how hard you prepare, there will always be a lot of surprises when you get to military basic training. Learning these things, however, will help you get a picture of what it’s like to undergo training in military schools.
